Craft, coordination and problem-solving
The architect established the design direction for Arvida Te Puna Wairoa. Hazel led North Interiors' project coordination across the bar, games room and library — bringing the architectural drawings, workshop, installation programme and other trades together.
The detail came down to the people making it. Master craftsman John England made each of the bar's pillars by hand. Mark built the overhead gantry and worked out how to route its wiring out of sight, preserving the clean architectural finish.
It was a complex, multi-room fit-out made cohesive through careful coordination, skilled craftsmanship and practical problem-solving.

Specified for commercial life
Domestic cabinetry in a commercial room fails within a year. We specify substrates, edging and hardware rated for the traffic the space will actually see, then detail the vulnerable points — leading edges, kick zones, wet areas — so the fit-out still looks deliberate after a decade of use.
Because everything is made in our own Kerikeri workshop, a late variation is a conversation with our factory rather than a change order to a plant in Auckland. On a live site, that is usually the difference between holding the programme and losing a fortnight.
