The Backstory

‍This project was literally two decades in the making. For over 20 years, the client had admired a specific property from across the water, dreaming that one day it might be theirs. When the listing appeared and they secured the land, a serendipitous connection was revealed: the previous owners had already engaged us for concept drawings before selling. The client took those initial plans and made them their own, collaborating with us to update the colour scheme, layout, and general scope. It became a true passion project, built by the client’s son and his company, Procraft.

The Design Detail

‍In every project, there is a balance between areas where you splurge and areas where you save. For this home, we found a smart solution for the floating shelving. Rather than using solid oak veneer throughout, we utilised a Melamine that was a near-perfect match to the oak used elsewhere in the joinery. To ensure the finish remained high-end, we applied a genuine timber veneer clashing to the visible front edge and had it lacquered to blend seamlessly with the Melamine. It’s a subtle detail that delivered a premium aesthetic while optimising the budget.
